Black Water (2007)
Thriller/Horror Rated R
Plot
While on vacation on Northern Australia, Gracie, her husband Adam and her younger sister Lee decide to take the Blackwater Barry tour in the swamp for fishing. Their guide Jim uses a small motor boat and takes the tourist along the river to a remote spot. When they stop, they are attacked by a huge crocodile that capsizes their boat and immediately kills Jim. The three survivors climb a tree and when they realize that help would never come to rescue them, they decide to try to find a way out of their sheltered location. However, in the muddy water, their boat is flipped and the crocodile stalks the trio under the water.
Acting
Stars Diana Glenn and Maeve Dermody as the heroines, both of whom play there parts well, though not outstanding. Also stars Andy Rodoreda, and Ben Oxenbould as the quickly disposed of guys.
Gore
Most all the attacks are done in a very realistic manner, so there's little to no blood splatter or real gory scenes, just lost of bloody bit marks on body's and one instance of a partially eaten body.
Sex/Nudity
None
Final Thoughts
This is a VERY slow moving film that relies heavily on atmosphere and scenery shots to set the tone. It is also a very realistically made movie as there are no more than 1 or 2 scenes, that are not immediately believable which is very low, especially for a creature feature. It is also a very enjoyable movie, despite dragging at points. There are 2 things that I think really could have taken this from good to great territory, and that would have been some great acting performances, not that the acting was bad here, but if it had been better, it would have improved the movie, and also taking out some scenery shots and replacing them with good dialogue scenes, or some random Croc induced carnage. Still absolutely worth watching, just don't expect it to be your typical Piranha, or (Insert SyFy Channel Movie Here) type creature movie.
