THE BLOODY APE is the most outrageous, drive-in movie take on Poe's "Murders in the Rue Morgue" ever committed to film. Very cheesy and over the top, but its supposed to be that way.

Throat slitting, decapitations, removed nipples, head crushing, body mutilating, and penis removal.

Full nude showers, full nudes changing, ape rape, and ape masturbation. According to IMDB trivia, all the women who appeared nude where local strippers who where paid $100 each.

This movie is shot as a tribute/satire of 70's grind house movies, complete with grainy video quality, and occasional reel sounds. The "ape" in the title is a guy in a gorilla suite, that they probably got off the bargain rack at the local costume shop, it also kills people using knives, runs them over with cars, and outsmarts them multiples times, all because he wants some bananas. The town  its takes place in is full of overly racist and sexist men, which gets a little annoying as it goes way over the top. This is overall an enjoyable throwback film, despite many flaws, and is certainly worth a viewing for fans of "classic" drive in theater.
