The Deadly Bees (1967)
Horror/Thriller Rated PG
Plot
Pop singer Vicki Robbins collapses from exhaustion while shooting the 1960's equivalent of a music video, and her physician prescribes a respite on Seagull Island with colleague and bee-keeper, Ralph Hargrove. Vicki finds the Hargroves' bitter marital strife oddly relaxing. But when a mysterious swarm of specially bred attack bees starts killing island residents, Vicki fights for her survival, setting fire to nearly half the structures on the island in her escape.
Acting
Stars Suzanna Leigh with Guy Doleman and Frank Findlay in the largest supporting roles, and Findlay is the only one who give a strong performance, and the others are average but not bad enough to distract.
Gore
People are attacked by bees, leading to some facial deformities.
Sex/Nudity
None, but Suzanna Leigh does have a long attack scene in just her underwear.
Final Thoughts
A movie deserving of its status as a camp classic, with a bit of decent premise, and script. The special effects are very lackluster , even given the time, and the acting is underwhelming, and the twist ending failed to surprise as throughout the entire time leading to it, there is only one suspect, but that all kind of adds to it's campiness. Entertaining movie despite many shortcomings.
