Mrs. Pringle and her son Rodney run a wig store which they stock by scalping young coeds who show up to look at the "room for rent." Meanwhile at the local college, Kathy is determined to figure out who is killing her classmates, much to boyfriend Dave's irritation. When her friend Dawn disappears, Kathy gets closer to the truth as she begins investigating the Pringle's lair.

Average for this kind of stuff from the time era.

A scalping and some organs being removed.

Not quite.

This would be one of the infamous gore films by gore innovator Herschell Gordon Lewis, and while it does provide a lot more gore than most, if not all movies of its time, he really is not a very good, movie. The story is fairly interesting and is one that has been reused many times since, but the movie is pretty boring and only the few gore scenes provide much worthwhile entertainment. Decent film to see if you want to learn more about the origins of the exploitation horror genre, but if that doesn't interest you than skip it. Certainly not on of HGL's stronger efforts.
