Halloween II (2009)
Horror Rated R
Plot
Michael Myers is still at large and no less dangerous than ever. After a failed reunion to reach his baby sister at their old home, Laurie Strode is immediately taken to a hospital to be treated by the wounds that had been afflicted by her brother a few hours ago. However, Michael isn't too far off and will continue his murdering 'Halloween' rampage until he gets his sister all to himself.
Acting
Scout Talor-Compton was pretty good, but shes better in the good girl, and Taylor Mane is very good as Michael, but the supporting cast of this movie was not as good as in the first one.
Gore
A head cut off, some brutal stabbings, and axing and gunshots
Sex/Nudity
A girl is seen completely naked running form Mr. Myers in a strip club, and there are some topless dancers at a party.
Final Thoughts
While I applaud Rob Zombie for trying to put a twist on the story after a formulaic but quite enjoyable remake, i think the whole story failed here. One of the keys to a successful horror movie is the hero vs villain plot, and while the hero doesn't have to be a perfectly nice, virginal, beautiful, etc.. but there has to be some reason to care about them, and none of those characters exist her, not even the most famous "final girl" in horror history. Laurie Strode. I also found it odd that while they went with a more realistic approach to the violence, the story went way over the top, with over-exaggerated characters and the awful ghost sub plot. The story isn't interesting and has no continuity with the last movie, as we don't see how Laurie's character made a complete change over the last 2 years, and to me the best scenes in this movie are the beginning 25 minute which is a remake of the original Halloween II. Definitely a shippable entry in the series, but still better than most of your low-budget slashers, and it does have some good gore sequences.
