House of Fears (2007)
Horror/Thriller Not Rated
Plot
The night before a local haunted house opens for Halloween, six friends sneak in for a few hours of fun. Soon after entering, they find themselves trapped inside with no way out. Their evening of fun rapidly turns into their worst nightmare as they begin to die and disappear in the most freakish of manners. With every effort to escape blocked, the survivors find themselves being driven deeper into the carnivalesque world of terror. Unable to tell what is real and what is counterfeit, they must trust one another, even if it kills them.
Acting
Much like she did in "Unrest" Corri English proves to be a very reliable leading lady, and still easily passes for a teenager, despite being about 29 years old when this movie was filmed. The rest of the young cast (including Corey Sevier, Michael Pagan, Alex Greczyn, and Sandra McCoy) are also quite dependable, and are help by the fact that not one of them is making there horror debut.
Gore
Little if any
Sex/Nudity
Despite there being ample opportunity to throw some in, there is none what so ever.
Final Thoughts
A very enjoyable movie overall, despite lacking anything really groundbreaking or original, but it was just far more well produced than most direct to DVD horror movies are, with much more attention to detail, and actually full fledged characters to care about. I certainly recommend seeing it, despite the complete lack of gore and nudity, and i have no idea why it took so long for this to get distribution. A better than adequate supernatural slasher.
