Picture

House of Wax (1953)

Genre

Horror/Thriller

Plot

In this spine-tingling film -- one of the first 3D movies ever made -- Vincent Price thrills as Professor Henry Jarrod, the creepy curator of a wax museum who loses his beloved business to a fire and then rebuilds it. This time, though, he doesn't use wax models, but a ghoulish alternative: dead bodies

Acting

Very good all around probably as good as you'll see in any old horror movie, Vincent Price is flawless as always, and Charles Bronson is also good as a deaf mute in one of his very early roles. I don't know his name, but the guy who appears as the hype man with those annoying kids paddle ball thing is a show stealer.

Gore

None unless you count wax figures, although Vincent Price has a deformed (burnt) face.

Sex/Nudity

None

Final Thoughts

House of Wax is certainly one of my favorite old shool horror movies, which are quite often a bit boring due to the lack of quality action, and there almost all story. The story is very interesting and it actually has some decent action sequence and great acting. The 2005 remake of this movie (which itself is a remake) has a very different story, and while I think that is one of the best slasher of recent years, this is just about as good.
