Kill Theory (2009)
Horror/Thriller Not Rated
Plot
A group of college students visit a secluded vacation home to celebrate their upcoming graduation. The fun doesn't last long when a sadistic psychopath forces them to participate in his deadly contest. The rules are simple -- in order to survive they must kill each other. As tension builds, and relationships begin to crumble, they realize that only one can make it out alive. Could you trust your boyfriend? Your girlfriend? Your best friend? Only one can go home. So who will be the last man or woman standing?
Acting
It does have a few recognizable faces with Taryn Manning, Daniel Franzese (The guy from Mean Girls and Killer Pad) and Agnes Bruckner. However niether Manning nor Franzese are very good, and Bruckner, who is by far the most talented person in the cast, is relegated to a supporting role for most of the movie.
Gore
Carved bodies, a slit throat, fire poker to the eye, a giant bear trap and one guys has his hand cut off and head bashed in with a shovel.
Sex/Nudity
One girl is seen topless while preparing for sex with her boyfriend, until he passes out drunk.
Final Thougths
This is one of the 8 films from the 4th installment of the After Dark Horrorfest, and like a large percentage of the films from that, this is pretty uninspired with a clunky script and while it's not at all a torture porn type movie, it is Saw inspired, as the killer make the victim play games leading to them killing each other. Also much like the rest of the After Dark movie this end up being a solid, though flawed and underwhelming movie, it starts off somewhat boring as it tries to be a suspense based slasher, but part way through they just seem to abandon that aspect and go into the straight slasher zone, once it does this, it vastly improved. Also has one good and unexpected twist at the end.
