Life Blood (2009)
Horror Rated R
Plot
New Year's Eve, 1968: While driving on the Pearblossom Highway, a lesbian couple encounters the creator of the universe. Laid to rest for 40 years, the women wake up on New Year's Day as reborn creatures
Acting
Stars Sophia Monk, Anya Lahiri, Patrick Renna, and briefly features new age scream queen, Scout Taylor-Compton. Monk can't act one bit, and Lahiri is better, but still not too good. This however was the largest part i've seen Renna play since he was in "The Sandlot", and i really think he did pretty well, certainly the best performance of anyone in this movie.
Gore
Vampire attacks, Monk is impaled, and a guy is stabbed in the neck. The ladder two scenes both looked pretty good, the vampire attacks however where pretty tame.
Sex/Nudity
Some random topless party goers, a goddess in a see through shirt, and Monk can be seen from behind while changing shirts in a car. There are also a few scenes in which Monk and Lahiri make out while fully clothed.
Final Thoughts
I really liked the basic premise of this movie, as it had a very unique vampire story that outside of the lesbian vampires, was very short on the typical cliches. The execution however was not good, neither lead are good actresses, and the dialogue was rather choppy at times, and the story was certainly not without its plot holes. Had this movie been made by a more experienced or better writer, and someone who could act in the leads (Even switching the roles of Monk and Taylor-Compton would have helped a good bit) , this could have been a much better movie, but due to those factors, it sadly just becomes another average vampire movie. I do not regret watching it, simply because of the original premise, however some of you may disagree. The movie also sometimes goes by the title of "Pearlblossom"
