Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Horror/Thriller Rated R
Plot
Death stalks the dreams of several young adults to claim its revenge on the killing of Freddy Kruger. Chased and chastised by this finger-bladed demon, it is the awakening of old memories and the denials of a past of retribution that spurns this hellish vision of a dreamlike state and turns death into a nightmare reality.
Acting
Most of the more well known names, such as Thomas Dekker, Katie Cassidy, and Kellan Lutz are the first characters to bite the dust, leaving the hero roles to Roonery Mara, who i thought made a better Nancy then Heather Langenkamp did, and Kyle Gallner, who also is strong as the loveable hero. Jackie Earle Haley is a very talented guy, but the old fashioned campy, wise cracking Freddy is a far better character, then the serious one we get here.
Gore
Sliced up bodies, throats cut open, chests ripped out, eyes poked out, and severed limbs and heads. The grue certainly flows.
Sex/Nudity
None
Final Thoughts
A decent effort, but not nearly as clever or creative as the original was. The characters are not as well written, outside of Nancy, and it was far more predictable, as as soon as it focused on one character for a few minutes, you can be sure they are the next to dies. A solid stand alone effort, but when compared to the original it may be a letdown. Not one of the better remakes.
