Porkchop (2010)
Comedy/Horror Not Rated
Plot
“Porkchop” tells the story of a group of young campers headed off into the wilderness for a weekend of partying at an abandoned summer camp only to discover they are not alone and the camp’s inhabitant, a deranged redneck with a pig mask, is not pleased with their presence. Done in the style of era slashers such as “Sleepaway Camp” and “The Burning,” “Porkchop” goes one step further, offering up entirely unique kills never seen before in the genre.
Acting
Not real good, but performances are not exactly aided by the very over-the-top comedic script.
Gore
Blood is minimal, and a lot of the kill scenes, while they may be unique are done primarily off screen, and are done very poorly, as they do not at all look real. It's all intended to be comedic.
Sex/Nudity
Man butt and a topless women during pre-credits skinny dipping, a fully clothed sex scenes, a women gets topless while preparing for sex, but the guy is "prepared" (got himself caught in a zipper), and is seen topless again while having sex with a robot. Once again all scenes are intended to be comedic.
Final Thoughts
"Porkchop" is another generic and uncreative slasher spoof, that does provide a few laughs, which would have been good enough, had the horror element been done while, however there is little of the horror aspect is almost non existent. They try to be very exploitational, especially with the kill scenes, however not a single kill scene or sex seem seems to be realistic, and is very lazily done, as it completely clear that the weapons are never near making contact with the intended areas. It's better than a lot of similar movies, and probably pretty enjoyable among the hardcore, horror comedy fans, but both the characters and situations are far too silly for my taste. Comedy almost always works better when one of those is taken seriously. This movie is directed by Eamon Hardiman, and is a slight step above his previous film "Catholic Ghoul Girls" and a full step below his best film to date "Vampire Whores from Outerspace". Please read my interview with him here, as well as my interview with the films star Erin Russ. You can also go here to pre-order the film for just $10 plus $2 shipping.
