Q: The Winged Serpent (1982)

Horror     Rated R

Plot

New York police are bemused by a spate of reports of a giant flying lizard that has been spotted around the rooftops of New York, which they assume to be bogus until the lizard starts to eat people. An out-of-work, ex-con piano player is the only person who knows the location of the monster's nest and is determined to turn the knowledge to his advantage, but will his gamble pay off or will he end up as lizard food?

Acting

The acting is ok, but not particularly strong, although it does feature b-movie legends David Carradine, Michael Moriarty, as well as Richard Roundtree.

Gore

Several body parts are dismember in a semi-gruesome manner.

Sex/Nudity

One girl is seen sunbathing topless on a rood, just before "Q" carries her away.

Final Thoughts

Q is a pretty good creature flick, and the first Larry Cohen directed movie ive liked (only prior seen It's Alive and his Masters of Horror episode), the special effects are enjoyable bad, but the creature is hidden well enough at most times. I personally enjoyed the story, although its one that's been seen over and over again, but there is a reason for that. Overall an enjoyable movie, and a solid way to waste 90 minutes.
