Rachael Robbins -- December 2010

Rachael is an actress, comedian, and playboy model who has appeared in many low-budget horror and comedy film, most recently starring in "Bikini Bloodbath Christmas" .

Thank You for participating in our interview!

Firstly why don’t you tell us about yourself!

I am an actress, comic and bombshell

How and why did you get into the business?

I got into the business because I couldn't think of anything else to do and I'm really bad at math. I thought really hard about what profession never needs to deal with math, and I came up with the entertainment industry. I started out modeling and that led to commercials and that led to film.  I started doing stand up to deal with my self esteem issues. Where better to do that then  in a spot light.

What are your aspirations?

My aspirations are to get paid and keep my clothes on. But if we're talking shooting-for-the-stars kinda stuff, I'd like to work with Meryl Streep, Angelica Houston, and Daniel Day Lewis.

Who are your idols, and/or influences?

For my acting idols see above. My comedy idols are Joan Rivers and Gypsy Rose Lee.

Tell us about your film “Bikini Bloodbath Christmas. What should we expect from it, and how does it stand out from the plethora of other slasher comedies?

Bikini Bloodbath Christmas was made in the vein of all the horrible 80's slasher movies. Think sleep away camp with lots more camp. It's the second one for me (I also starred in Bikini Bloodbath 2: Bikini Carwash). You should expect nothing from it, and then you will enjoy it! It's one of those films that get's funnier the more you think about it, or the more pot you smoke before you watch it. It has an ensemble cast of actors who have worked together before so there is a lot of trust going on. There are some stand outs and some bombs. There are some naked balls and some egg nog. If you like these kind of films, you ill appreciate what they did. And did for nearly nothing.

Any unique/interesting storys about making the movie?

working with the BBB people is kind of like going away to summer camp. I had worked on a bunch of projects with the crew and acors, so it was really fun to see everyone again. They treated us well, but after the 7th day of pizza for lunch I couldn't take it any more and brought in an entire sushi feast for everyone! It' hard to look good running around in a bikini all day after eating nothing but carbs!

What where the best, worst, and hardest parts of making this and other movies?

The hardest part of working on low budget movies is that the things that get cut are the luxuries, like good food, or a place to hang while you're waiting for the next shot to get set up and it's 6 am and you've been in make-up and wardrobe since 4pm. It's dissapointing because it's so great to work, but it's a bummer to have to do your close ups after 12 hours. you don't feel secure as an actor to beging with and even worse after sitting in a folding chair for 12 hours. So once you get your big moment, it's kinda tainted by exhaution. It's also hard to work in extreme temps or on an over night shoot. the actual shooting part of a movie is not the best part. The best part is when you get to see the final product, and you hear from other people that thye've seen it and enjoyed it.

Did you enjoy making serious or comedic horror more?

I would only make comedies if I had a choice. I feel in my most natural state when doing comedy. I always feel like I'm "acting" when I do dramatic roles.

What do you feel is the best movie you have been apart of?

i think the best project I did was a web series called Horrible People (www.horriblepeople.com). I starred alonside kristen Schaal, Joe LaTruglio, Mather Zickle and AD Miles. I also just did a movie with Armond Assanti called Goat directed by Paul Borghese. That was pretty cool. I had a role in a gorgous film called Fake, that starred Robert Loggia, Fisher Stevens and Robert Clohessy.

Any upcoming or past  projects you think may interest of readers?

I have two films that are geting a theatrical release. One is called An Affirmative Act. It deals with gay marriage issues. And the other is The Great Fight. A mixed martial arts film. It's the karate kid meets rain man. But MOSt importantly, my partner erika Smith (www.erikasmith.net) and I wrote a script that we are raising the finances for as I type this. We've signed on an A-List director and have some great names attached to it. The movie is called "Room4Rent" and it's basically the female Hangover. It's so flipping funny I nearly peed myself when we were writing it. So if there are any angel investors out there, please get in touch!

What are some of your favorite Favorite Horror, Sci-Fi or Action movies
(your own excluded)?

My fav horror films are Silence of the Lambs, 28 days Later, House of 1,000 Corpses, and The Devil's Rejects. Anything with Zombies scares the shit out of me.

This concludes my interview with Rachael. She's been in the film industry for quite a while, and has had small role in many well  known low budget movie, and is finally starting to get more long-awaiting leading roles, and I wish her the best in luck in her future.
