The Rig (2010)
Horror/Sci-Fi Rated R
Plot
As a hurricane rages outside, the small but experienced crew of an oil drilling rig settles in to ride out the storm. Isolated on the rig, their calm is short lived when a crew member goes missing and an extensive search proves futile. Slowly, they discover that a deadly creature is stalking the skeleton crew, eliminating them one by one. Surrounded by nothing but raging ocean, their communication severed and no way off the rig, the roughnecks try to survive the stormy night with an unrelenting force of death hunting them down.
Acting
Thought William Forsythe get the cover mention, hes there strictly for that reason, as his role is minor and he bites the dust very early. The movie is left left to be carried by Sarah D'Laine who proved a likable female lead. Also features solid but non-consequential roles by Art LaFleur and others.
Gore
Many large holes in human bodies.
Sex/Nudity
Some topless shower sex by supporting characters.
Final Thoughts
A generic creature movie that mixes "Alien" with "The Thing". Features minor gore and nudity, and a decent though very limited script and story. The cast does a pretty good job, but only 1 or 2 characters are really fully developed. Worth watching for me at least, but if you don't like most made for TV/Direct to video creature pics, then you wont like this either.
