The Undertaker & His Pals (1966)
Horror/Comedy Rated R
Plot
An undertaker and his two friends, who are restaurant owners, drum up business by going out on the town and killing people; the restaurant owners use parts of the bodies for their menu, and the undertaker gets paid by the families to bury the remainder. Their racket goes awry when 2 detectives suspect that something isn't quite kosher.
Acting
Not great enough, but could enough for this story.
Gore
Stabbings, meat clever to the head, and some blood.
Sex/Nudity
None, but a lot more skin than most movies of that era.
Final Thoughts
This was an enjoyable early horror comedy, and is very much a pre-cursor to the inferior movie "Blood Diner". Tells a good and original story and has a solid cast. The gore, while not much by today's standards was much more than most movies back then, and could be likened to HG Lewis, though the productions values of this are higher than his movies. I bought this on a double feature with "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things", and bough it manly for CSPWDT but this turned out to be the better movie. Enjoyable throughout with the exception of one scene of awful old fashioned slap stick humor. Go get it.
