The Unearthly (1957)

Sci-Fi/Horror     Not Rated

Plot

Professor Charles Conway is a mad scientist attempting to develop the proverbial fountain of youth by creating "the 17th gland". Ignoring all aspects of scientific ethics, his research subjects are people who have no family and are under the impression that the doctor can cure their depression. However, his research hasn't been successful and his subjects are turned into grotesque zombies. Some of Conway's patients begin to catch on to his scheme and intend to stop him.

Acting

Stars John Carradine, once again as a mad scientist, and he once again does a good job with an average character. Also stars Tor Johnson playing the usual near-mute goon for the villain.

Final Thoughts

People really loved mad scientist back in the 50's didn't they? This is one of many of the genre I've seen from that era, and its a run of the mill effort. Had a solid cast, and solid, though not exactly enthralling generic story. Not really a whole lot to say about it, as essentially if you've seen on, you've seen them all. Not bad, but certainly not a top tier film.
