Up Against Amanda (2000)
Thriller Rated R
Plot
After childhood abuse by her step-father and eight years in a juvenile psychiatric lockup, Amanda Lear is released. Her shrink is also her lover, who surreptitiously pays her rent on a nice house for a year. She moves in, takes one look at her neighbor Richard, and dispatches her doctor. To cover her tracks and to begin her seduction, she gets Richard's help with a security system. Soon she's bugging his calls and spying on him with hidden cameras, taking advantage of a rift between Richard and his wife who's in Nashville cutting a record. Amanda will stop at nothing to get Richard's exclusive attention. Will this good neighbor wise up before the hot tub overheats?
Acting
As far as the generic made for TV psycho thriller, the acting is pretty average, it certainly needed to be better, but also could have been worse. Wasn't helped much by the clunker of a script. Also could have used some star power, as the lead is only gt the role because her twin brother (Jason Priestly) was once a b-level celebrity, and the only other recognizable face is popular bit actor Daniel Roebuck.
Gore
A guy is shot in the heat
Sex/Nudity
Brief butt while changing, and brief breast during some hot tub sex.
Final Thoughts
An incredibly predictable cookie cutter made for TV thriller, complete with bad actors, unbelievable characters, and a bunch of random scenes with little continuity. There's no real reason to watch this, although there are certainly worse option within the sub genre. Skip this, don't bother.
