Wolf Moon (2009)
Horror/Thriller Rated R
Plot
Real love and fate collide in a small town girl's life as Amy falls in love with a mysterious drifter who brings with him a family curse and the unimaginable horror that follows. Bender, who shares the curse with his son, brings hell to Amy's small town. As Dan and Amy's love is put to the test, Thibodeaux, an ex-cop from another city who has witnessed Bender's lust for blood firsthand, Sam, the local sheriff and an ex homicide detective, and John, a local farmer and Amy's father, head for the ultimate showdown with Bender and the evil web of terror that he has drawn them all into
Acting
Ginny Weirick was very good in the lead role, and created a very likable and relateable character. Max Ryan was also adequate in his large supporting role, but Sid Haig (playing a bit against type), Lin Shaye, and Billy Drago are also grossly underused and relegated to smaller roles.
Gore
About as little gore as I've seen from a modern day werewolf movie
Sex/Nudity
None
Final Thoughts
The 2 hour and 4 minute run time of this movie really stand out, as it should, because it is far too long, and the film would have been better served with at least a half hour being cut out or condensed. Despite its over long run time, it still relies on a hand holding montage scene in order to try to speed up the romantic plot, which was really not needed at all. It also suffered some from fairly random cuts, and below par editing. But i did think that the story itself was pretty good, and certainly could have produced a much better movie. Still not a bad movie, and worth watching for a decent story and good lead performance.
